Before getting started with ManuscriptHub, please read and agree to the following terms:
ManuscriptHub is intended solely as a way for authors to send manuscripts to the magazines and organizations on the ManuscriptHub system. We are not a file repository or a backup service, and we do not accept any responsibility for damage or loss to manuscripts stored on this system: it is your responsibility to maintain good backups of your work. We reserve the right to delete manuscripts that are not currently under consideration by a magazine or organization. ManuscriptHub users should only upload manuscripts they intend to submit within 24 hours. All other manuscripts are subject to deletion without prior notification. All copyrights to all manuscripts on this system remain with the user who submitted them. If an author’s manuscript is accepted by a magazine or organization, that entity will contact the author directly and negotiate rights for publication. No manuscript on this system may appear in any form, print or electronic, without the consent of the author. We reserve the right to terminate any ManuscriptHub account if we believe the member is misrepresenting their own status or that of their work. We reserve the right to deactivate or delete inactive accounts. We reserve the right to deactivate or delete any account that violates any part of this agreement. We try to keep your name, postal address, e-mail address, manuscripts, and other information secure. However, this is a Web-based computer system, and is at risk to hacking and other nefarious activities. So, while we work hard to keep your contact information private, we cannot guarantee it. However, we do NOT store your credit card information on this system and no one from ManuscriptHub will ask you for it by e-mail, phone, or in person. If someone does, they are a scammer. We do not store your SSN or other unique identifiers on this system. We try to be selective when it comes to the magazines, organizations, and agents who use ManuscriptHub. However, we do not have the resources to investigate each one thoroughly, and we can accept no responsibility for their actions. If you encounter unethical or illicit activity by someone on ManuscriptHub, please contact us immediately. However, you need to evaluate each magazine, organization, and agent on your own terms. Whenever you submit work to a magazine or organization on ManuscriptHub, you are giving ManuscriptHub permission to pass your name, e-mail, address, and other contact information to that magazine or organization (just as your information would also appear on any paper submission). We ask all participating organizations to agree NOT to sell/transfer your information to third parties, and to use it only for their internal marketing or subscription efforts. Once your manuscript has been delivered to a magazine or organization, it is their responsibility to read and evaluate it. While ManuscriptHub will sometimes post statistics on reading backlogs and turnaround times, we do not guarantee a reading or evaluation by a given time. If you believe a magazine or organization is not meeting their end of the bargain, let us know so we can see if this is an isolated problem or one that requires some intervention on our part. Some manuscripts published through ManuscriptHub may receive financial compensation from a magazine or organization after publication. A literary contest with a cash prize is one example. For such submissions, we assume all manuscripts on this system are treated the same. Do NOT use MansucriptHub if you have a prior arrangement with an editor, staff member, or judge. In other words, don’t enter a contest or submit to a magazine through this system when you have an unfair advantage over other entrants. It’s not just unethical. In contests with entry fees, it is also illegal. As a ManuscriptHub user, you agree to keep your e-mail, address, and contact information up to date. If you change street addresses, you should also file a change of address form with your local post office. Many magazine and literary contests promise to mail you a copy of an anthology or a magazine subscription after the competition ends. However, most magazines and other literary organizations use a bulk book rate that will not forward to a new address. ManuscriptHub is not responsible for the delivery of a subscription or prize issue; instead, you should contact the magazine or organization directly. ManuscriptHub.com will refund any charges caused by an error on our part as well as those cases in which a user accidentally creates a duplicate submission of work they've already paid for. However, users sometimes create other errors by not following the formatting and submission intructions we provide, and in those cases, we reserve the option to send you a coupon code (which allows for a new, free upload--essentially a "store credit"), in lieu of a refund. While you can always withdraw manuscripts from ManuscriptHub submissions free of charge, you cannot add/alter material once a submission has been paid for. ManuscriptHub.com is owned and managed by Samovar Press, LLC, Charlottesville, VA, an independent press that publishes the Best New Poets series and other titles.
